KAW/One Missed Call

I rented Kaw, mainly because I have unhealthy obsession with Boondock Saints. But I also am not a bird person. Oh I love all animals, and have nursed many birds back to health, but they are creepy.  So Kaw could've had me there. I guess the man thing is that they brought nothing new to the whole killer bird thing. It was a total sick day nothing on tv kind of movie, despite the eye candy.

One Missed Call,  I avoided this movie like the plague. I had this feeling that this movie was going to be like every other Asian Remade film. And guess what! Thats exactly what it was. The kills where same ol same ol. Basically I'm ready for something new and inventive. Or at least new kills that gross me out or do what Pet Cemetery did to create my achilles tendon phobia. In other words, scare me! Which is,  I think the point, right?

Dracula and Last House on the Left

So last Friday the 13th I had quite a day of horror. And I mean that in good way. As always I got up early to go to the friday morning showing of the latest horror movie. This time it happened to be " Last house on the Left" as it happens I have only seen 2/3 rds of the original 1972. Yeah I know whats wrong with me. Don't worry its on my Netflix cue.  But I am a huge fan of the Original inspiration behind Last house on the left, the swedish film, Jungfrukal, made in 1960. I love that movie. So seeing this new one. Of course it doesn't hold a candle to either original, because they have the advantage of being groundbreaking, and above all else first. But that said. It was a great piece of work. The women in the film weren't submissive at all. They fought like hell, and really did some serious damage. The kills were great. They increased my fear of my garbage disposal and microwave! So very good job.

As to Dracula. I saw this production at No Ho Arts Center. They had a great set and a great cast. Girls finally got the eye candy and nudity we deserve. Which seems to be a trend. I guess us girls finally screamed and demanded equal nudity and we are getting it finally!  They broke the 4th wall. Which if any body knows me, knows how much I hate! It makes me nervous through the whole show. I had my program rolled up just in case they came to close and I had to smack someone. But thats just me. Anyway great production, actually more scary than " Last house on the Left" Thanks mostly to the sound effects. Even though you knew they were coming, the noises they created scared your pants off!

So overall very very good Friday the 13th! And looking forward to the Next Friday the 13th!
