Season of the Sequel and Remake...

So here is what we have to look forward to in the future. It's nothing new, its stuff we have all taken to heart, and most of them are the reason we love horror. So here is my snap judgements of the upcoming revisited productions.

Let's start with the Remakes, or the Re-imaginings:

Creature from the Black Lagoon, coming out of Universal Studios, I have a feeling they might actually give it its just dues, because after all it was one of their babies. And so I am looking forward to this one.

Bride of Frankenstein, also Universal. Ok the only problem I for see is finding the perfect Bride. The only one that comes to mind for me it Helena B. Carter, but she's been there done that. So my fingers are crossed on this one.

Little Shop of Horrors, This one is exciting. They are not remaking the musical, but rather the original, Jack Nicholson version. I am excited to see if he makes a cameo!

Nightmare on Elm Street, sans Robert Englund. I can't even describe how sick this makes me. Not only is one in the works, but 3 are already in motion. 3 without the whole point of watching them. Unless Johnny Depp makes a cameo what's the point!

The Step Father, actually I am excited to see this one. I think it is actually one of the few that could use a facelift.

The Wolfman, Really love the casting, and I feel that this re-imagining will keep me intrigued.

HellraiserThis one makes me a little nervous. You are going to find this next statement quite strange but it must be said. I think that Hellraiser is one of the sexiest franchises out there. And I fear that it may not come back with the same vengeance and sexy fury!

Than we have other remakes that I am less familiar with, and am eager to hear your thoughts on: Sorority Row, And Soon the Darkness Night of the Demons, The Crazies, Straw Dogs, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, The Echo, The Experiment, and Let the Right One In.

Now to the Sequels!

Scream 4, Let's face it. How are they going to stretch the story any further. And why should they!

Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon Sequel, so excited for this one! It was a great comedy that paid homage to all the greats. I can't wait to see what they do!

Saw VI, whatever. At least we will have good kills.

Cabin Fever 2, ohhhhhhh yeaaaaah need I saw more!

The Descent 2, not sure where they'll take this. After all, the first kicked ass. Showing that you possibly don't want to be in a survival situation with a bunch of chicks. ( Something I was already fully aware of.)

But we do have a lot of originals to look forward to. Like World War Z, Omg I can't even stand it. I need to grab the book again.

Until next time Zombie Chic signing off.

Oh Rob Zombie!

So I know that I'm gonna get a lot of *&*(& for liking this movie. But... I loved Halloween. Chalk it up to my Love of Mr. and Mrs Zombie. And also to my love of movies that pay homage to the slasher films of old. But  I truly did enjoy Halloween 2. Although, at one point I wished they had taken to a more logical place. I still feel that the emotion and gore where on point. And despite another animal killing moment ( why is everyone killing animals!) I feel that you should diffidently check out the latest installment of this franchise. Although I'm sure avid fans will be disappointed in the new Michael. I, not a Halloween devotee, but someone that can appreciate the franchise, loved the reincarnation of Michael. Let's face it, its just more to my liking. And can't wait to see what Angel does next.

Halloween 2 ****

Other movies viewed worth mentioning:
Nature's Grave * ( not even worth 1 star)
Gray Man *** , a great depiction of a very strange man ( and Serial Killer).

Coming Soon to Zombie Chic, the Sequel List ( What disappointment is coming your way! )

Glourious Basterds!

Oh Quentin Tarantino how I love thee! O.k. seriously go see "Inglourious Basterds" its utterly brill ant! As usual Quentin takes a story and sprays it with violence and humor. Just the way I like it! Although there is violence, it so not the all out gore fest we have come to expect from Mr. Tarantino. We still have the humor, and with great performances by a very star filled cast you are certain to be entertained. Brad Pitt is perfect as the Apache Soldier, while Eli Roth ( swoon) adds a more serious insanity to the act of killing Nazis. And lets face it, its a movie where you are cheering these guys on to kill, there was much clapping in the audience, and it was well understood why. This movie makes me wish that Quentin Tarantino could direct life. Not only would it be a hell of a ride, it would also have a better ending!

Collecting D9.

So what is up with me getting teary eyed at Horror Movies lately. Even though District 9 is technically a Sci Fi film. I think all us Horror Fans can appreciate Sci Fi, and Especially D9. Its a Alien movie with a strong message, an important one at that. I don't want to ruin the movie for you, but I feel the need to say see this movie. Yes there is violence, and the violence is gorey and good. But the message it self is worth it as well. So check it out.

As for the Collector. This is not a bad movie per say. Its not a great one either. It somewhere in the middle. It is quite what you would suspect of a SAW franchised film. But the kills are good. And no one is safe which I love. (They do kill an animal or two, which as you know I hate!!!!) But despite that I would say good rental, and I hope they do a sequel so we can get to the good stuff. The stuff that was implied in the movie, but never shown.

So on the Zombie Chic Meter:
District 9 ****1/2
The Collector **1/2

Unborn... wish it was unboring.

O.k. while the concept is great. Nazis and twins, what a great concept, so many ways to go with it. So many factual ways to take this. Yet unfortunately they took it to the same place as always, exorcism, and switching it up only by making it a Jewish Exorcism. The only saving grace in this movie is the eye candy, Cam Gigandet, and the random sprinkling of Gary Oldman.

So on the Zombie Chic Meter I give it an extra star just for Cam: **1/2
Only watch this movie if you are sick and its free on cable.
